As a new School Committee member, I have been committed to listening and learning. Henri Nouwen inspires and offers me guidance in this commitment. “Listening is much more than allowing another to talk while waiting for a chance to respond. Listening is paying full attention to others and welcoming them into our very beings.” I have worked to understand how my skills and experience fit into the whole of the school committee team, how the current systems are working for the district, as well as how they are coming up short, and in what ways we might re-imagine a school system that reaches even farther than our dreams.
Accomplishments
Listening first. Learning always. Delivering for every student.
From there, I discovered how I fit and what my experience added so that I could work together with my colleagues toward policy that builds the kind of schools that Medford deserves.
